FRIENDS OF CHARTRES

Past Events – Chichester

In June 2009, we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the twinning with the exchange to Chichester. These photos show some of the events that took place over the long weekend.

Apart from the exchanges, we have an annual programme of events running approximately monthly that include: talks on a French related theme, petanque matches, skittle evenings, an annual dinner and several language circles for various ability levels.

Chartres is situated approximately 50 miles south-west of Paris in 'Cosmetic Valley' and is famous for its world famous gothic Cathedral which is listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site. It has picturesque markets, arts and crafts workshops, gourmet specialities and is the 'county town' of the Eure & Loire Department.

In May 2010 a large group of us went to Chartres for 'part 2' of the 50th Anniversary celebrations. These photos are from that weekend and from earlier exchanges to Chartres.
